Major Tourist Attractions

Great Pyramids
The Pyramids are the oldest manmade structures on the earth and the Great Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops) is the only monument left of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World. The Pyramids were also the tallest manmade structure in the world for more than 43 centuries with the height of 145.75 m. The Pyramids fulfilled the purpose of the tomb to bury the kings and nobles from where they begin mystic journey of the afterlife. The Great Pyramid took almost 20 years to be completed and used almost two million blocks of limestone each with a weight of more than two tons.

The entrance to the pyramid is on the north and the king's burial chamber is in the center of the structure accessible by the Great Gallery. The walls of the King's chamber and his sarcophagus are built of red granite.

The Sphinx
The Sphinx, also known as the Abu-al-Hol (Father of Terror), placed in front of the Great Pyramid is believed to be older than the pyramids themselves. The Sphinx is supposed to be a mysterious being that has the body of a lion and the face of a human closely resembling King Kephren.

Solar Boat Museum
Solar Boat Museum is constructed over the pit. This is amazing. The solar boats were discovered only in 1954.
